Our journey back to Mother Nature – the sunny Italy of the Phoenicians, the Greeks, the Arabs and the Normans – begins with bergamot, because this citrus fruit between lemon and bitter orange is the princess of fragrances, part of numerous formulas that have achieved great success today.
A princess, however, who has never received the honor she deserves due to her volatility. For this reason, we used an extraction that goes back to ancient origins. The bergamot sponge method: A curved knife removes the pulp and what remains is the peel. The bowl is then pressed onto a natural sponge using circular movements to extract the essence. The fruity base with delicate floral notes of jasmine of our Bergamotto di Calabria arose from a return to the past. The stimulating freshness with its clearly modern taste, on the other hand, is based on a touch of exoticism and on a long processing of the bergamot, which has made its scent long-lasting and energetic.
